Grover - Elvie Inez Hayes Allen, 95, passed away March 5th, 2026, at Atrium Health Kings Mountain.

Born in Shelby, NC, Elvie was the widow of William Paul Allen and the daughter of the late Thie Edgar and Iver Bell Wilkie Hayes. She was a member of Clearview Baptist Church and the last one in her family of 14 children.

Elvie is survived by her children, Mary Payne (Gary), Marvin Allen, Linda Swink (Shorty), and Dennis Allen (Martha), 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death in addition to her husband and parents by her daughter, Joyce Courtney, and her 13 brothers and sisters.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 10th, 2026, from 10:00-11:00 am at Clearview Baptist Church, 316 Hardin Circle, Grover, NC. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00 am at the church with Rev. Barry Miles officiating. Interment will be in Grover Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
