Mr. Emmett Steve Jackson, age 73 died Saturday November 10, 2012 at Hospice of Wendover. Born in Blacksburg SC on September 19, 1939 he is the son of the late Emmett Rogers and Alma Wilson Jackson. Steve was a lifelong active member of New Hope Baptist Church where he served as a former deacon. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, Crest High School football and the Atlanta Braves and he served his country in the United States Air Force. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Bohler.
Steve was a devoted husband to his wife of 50 years, Peggy L. Jackson; loving father to his children; a daughter, Sherri Jackson of Earl; and son Mike Jackson and wife Marie of Kings Mountain; loving grandfather to his grandchildren, Amber, Rashe, Zach, and Macayla and great grandson Hunter.
A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday November 13, 2012 at 11:00am at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Russ Bradley officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00pm until 7:30pm at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.
