Ernest Flay Gettys, Jr. 80, died Friday December 17, 2021 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia. A native of Rutherford Co., he was born to the late Ernest Getty Sr. and Jean Holland Gettys. In addition to his parent's, he was preceded in death by his wife Margie Gettys and sister Violet Reynolds. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Joan Gettys of Belmont, son Mitchell Gettys of Boiling Springs and stepson Franklin Carpenter of Charlotte, daughter Sue Lynn Moore of Boiling Springs and stepdaughter Cheryle Cooke of Belmont, brothers Homer Lovelace and wife Judy of Shelby and Billy Lovelace and wife Phyllis of Boiling Springs and 4 grandchildren.

Ernest was a member of Cramerton Independent Presbyterian Church, loved fishing, especially carp fishing and was an avid card player.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday December 21, at 2:00 PM at Cramerton Independent Presbyterian Church, Rev. Ken Bogle, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Shelby at 4:00 PM.
