Eugene "Gene" Bynum Spangler
Eugene "Gene" Bynum Spangler, 84, of 1324 Moonshadow Lane in Shelby, passed away Tuesday June 13, 2017 at home.
Born January 16, 1933 in Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Eubert Bynum Spangler and Edith Beam Spangler. He was a retired plant manager for Rexham Corporation and a member of Ross Grove Baptist Church. He also served in the US Army stationed in Europe during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Elam Spangler; second wife, Helen Dover Spangler; and sister, Shirley Greene.
Survivors include one son, Marcus Spangler of McConnells, SC; two daughters, Sharon Spangler and husband, Gerald Pottern of Wake Forest and Kelly Sebastian and husband, Mark of Rock Hill, SC; two sisters, Sara Greene and Eloise Wright; and six grandchildren, Natalie Spangler, Eric Spangler, Rachel Nunn, Joseph Pottern, Megan Sebastian and Dylan Sebastian.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home, Fallston, NC.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 1:00 PM at Ross Grove Baptist Church, Shelby with the Rev. Marcus McGill officiating.
A private burial will be held in the Sharon Memorial Park, Charlotte.
