Eugene "Gene" Ripley Whitworth, 82, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Peak Resources in Shelby.

He served in the United States Air Force, worked for the Kings Mountain City Utilities Department and was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church and served on the Cemetery and Maintenance Committees. He was a wonderful friend and will truly be missed.

Gene leaves behind to cherish his memories his special friends, Tammy Patterson, Nelson Jackson, Courtney and Justin Grant, Dustin, Sarah and karleigh Patterson, Ronnie and Margie, Pannell, Lucille Holland and Lacy Holland; sisters, Sarah Walker and Joyce Gray.

He is predeceased by his wife, Lorene Ledford Whitworth; parents, Clarence and Bessie Whitworth.

A Memorial Service will be held at Buffalo Baptist Church, 108 Buffalo Church Road, Shelby, NC 28150 on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 2:00 PM with Jason Allen officiating.
