Eugene "Smiley" Tallent, 75 of Shelby passed away Wednesday, January 10,
2018 at Testa Hospice House.

Born March 6, 1942 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Robert
Vance Tallent and Rena Buff Tallent. He was retired from the North Carolina
Department of Transportation and attended Bethphage Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Leonhardt Tallent; a step son, Ronald
Leonhardt and wife, Michelle of Cherryville; a step daughter, Teddi
Leonhardt Neal and husband, Charles of Cherryville; brother, Carl Tallent of
Lincolnton; five grandchildren, Seth Neal, Ryan Neal, Jessi Neal, Bessie
Leonhardt and Chase Leonhardt; and nieces and nephews that he raised.

Visitation will be on Saturday from 12:00 PM - 1:45 PM at Stamey-Tysinger
Funeral Home

A funeral service will be on Saturday at 2:00 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral
Home Chapel.

Burial will follow in Bethphage Lutheran Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice Cleveland County, 951
Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28510 ot to the donors choice.
