Evelyn Ware Heavner
Cherryville - Mrs. Evelyn Ware Heavner, 95 of Requa Road, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at her home.
Evelyn was born on February 9, 1920 in Cleveland County, NC a daughter of the late Robert E. Ware, Sr. and Essie Smith Ware. She worked in the cafeteria for Cherryville High School and also worked at Sweetree in Cherryville. Evelyn was a long time member of First Baptist Church and was a member of the Nora Dellinger Sunday School Class, Morrison-Williams Circle and also worked in the Nursery for many years. She was also a member of Cherryville American Legion Post 100 Women's Auxiliary and a member of Cherryville Chapter # 156 Order of the Eastern Star for 59 years and was a Past Worthy Matron. Evelyn also served her country in the U.S. Air Force during WWII.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John F. Heavner, Jr.; a son Johnny Richard Heavner; a grandson Brent Heavner; two brothers, Eddie Ware and Robert "Bobby" Ware, Jr. and two sisters, Margaret Ware and Liddie Ware Baker.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Mike Heavner and Terri of Lincolnton and two grandchildren and spouses, Brandon Heavner and Amy of Lincolnton and Kayla Heavner Spencer and Tyler.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her care givers, Coleen Palmer, Jennifer Steen, Jamie Cochran and to Hospice of Cleveland County.
Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:45PM at First Baptist Church on Friday, May 15, 2015.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00PM on Friday, May 15, 2015 First Baptist Church with Dr. Vince Hefner officiating.
Burial will be at Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors by the Cherryville American Legion Post 100 Honor Guard and graveside rites by Cherryville Chapter #156 Order of the Eastern Star.
