More Info: You are warmly invited to join the Extension Master Gardener Association of Cleveland County for a special groundbreaking ceremony celebrating the beginning of the Dotty Leatherwood Botanical Gardens at Hanna Park. This public garden has been years in the making and will serve as a welcoming place for learning, reflection, and connection with nature. Created and maintained by Master Gardeners, the gardens will honor the legacy of Dotty Leatherwood while offering inspiration and education for generations to come. We hope you will join us as we officially break ground and take the first step in planting a garden rooted in knowledge, wellness, and community.

What: Free Workshop Your Land, Your Legacy

More Info: Local farmers and landowners are invited to attend Your Land, Your Legacy, a free educational workshop focused on farmland preservation and long-term planning. The workshop is designed to help landowners protect their farms and plan for the next generation. Topics will include farmland preservation options, conservation practices, and farm succession planning resources. Experts will be on hand to share practical guidance and answer questions. The event is hosted by Cleveland County Soil & Water Conservation District in partnership with NC Cooperative Extension, NC Forever Farms, the NC Foundation for Soil & Water Conservation, USDA, and other agricultural organizations. Monthly Meeting at American Legion, Post 82: 2nd Monday of every month. Meal at 6:00 pm, Meeting at 6:30 pm. Warren F. Hoyle, American Legion, Post 82, 1628 South Lafayette St., Shelby, NC. We invite all Veterans to attend our monthly meetings. If you are a son or grandson of a veteran, you can join the Sons of the American Legion. Members of the Legion family can join the Legion Riders. To join the American Legion, the veteran holds an honorable discharge or is an active duty veteran. Spouses, daughters, granddaughters of a veteran can join the Auxiliary.


Astronomy Club Meeting: South Carolinas largest mobile telescope will be on the Gardner-Webb University campus February 19th & 23rd weather permitting. FREE Public observing session will start at 7:00 pm. Scope will be in the field next to the Lutz-Yelton Convocation Center parking lot. Hosted by Gardner-Webb chapter of the ASA and the Cleveland County Astronomical Society.


Nar-Anon Support Group: Meets 6:30 pm weekly on Tuesdays at the First Baptist Church, 120 N. Lafayette St., Shelby, NC. Nar-Anon is a support group for those affected by someone else's drug addiction. We meet in the classroom off Dale St. between Sumter & Campbell St. Park on the side of the church or in the alley.
