Gary Alvin Brackett, 61, of 123 Dirty Ankle Road, Lawndale, NC, passed away
Saturday, February 3, 2018 at his home.

Born in Cleveland County on September 3, 1956, he was the son of the late
Lee Alvin Brackett and Muriel Buff Brackett. Gary was a retired teacher
having taught fourth grade at Love Memorial Elementary School, eighth grade
social studies at West Lincoln Middle School, and finally third grade at
George Hildebrand Elementary School. He was a member of West Hickory
Baptist Church where he loved his church family and was always a faithful
friend. Gary was an avid gardener and loved riding and training horses.

He is survived by his loving wife of thirty-six years, Karen Hull Brackett;
son, Kevin Brackett; two aunts and uncles, RA and Margaret Brackett and
Hubert and Pauline VanDyke; cousins, Buddy, Sheila, and Darryl Martin; Matt
and Chastity Logan; Everette, Linda and Todd Johnson; and special family
friends, Danny, Wanda, Justin and Jordan McCurry and Harley Byers; Jonathon,
Merry Leigh, Zoe, and Jack Dameron; Gerald, Jackie and Halley Shoup; and the
West Hickory 1:00 Bible Study Group.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at
Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home, Fallston.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 3:00 PM at West Hickory
Baptist Church, Hickory, with the Rev. Scott Frady officiating. The family
will also receive friends at the church from 1:45 PM to 2:45 PM.

The burial will follow the service in the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery,
Lawndale.
