Gay Bennett Shockley, 90, of Gastonia, NC, passed away peacefully on April 05, 2023 at her home. She was born in Cleveland County, NC, daughter of the late Grady Otto and Evelyn Martin Bennett and was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Wallace Dean Shockley and her son, Jeff Shockley. Gay was also preceded in death by her sister, Connie Ledford and her brother Stoney Bennett. She retired from the state of North Carolina after 20 years of dedicated service as a case worker at Social Services in Gaston County. Gay was always active and a very talented person. There was nothing she could not accomplish when she put her mind to it. She spent many hours sewing, doing upholstery, and working around her home. She was passionate about gardening and growing beautiful flowers. Gay loved to cross-stitch and kept many of her works on display. Gay was known by her family and friends for her kindness, humble attitude and constantly placing others needs before her own. She was a wonderful mother who loved her family very deeply. Her guidance, kindness and love will be greatly missed by all those who loved her.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Monday, April 10, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Ollie Chapel Memorial Chapel with Reverend Brian Crady officiating

VISITATION: Monday, April 10, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 10:50 AM prior to the service at Harris Funeral Home

INTERMENT: Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, NC
