Gerald Wayne Ferguson, 82, of Vale passed away on September 13, 2026, at Carolina Caring in Newton.

Gerald was born on March 6, 1944, in Cabarrus County, to the late William Ralph Ferguson and Irene McGuirt Ferguson. He was retired from Duke Power and was a member of New Jerusalem Lutheran Church. Gerald loved fishing, woodworking, trains, and traveling.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn Eudy Ferguson; son, Daryl Ferguson and wife, Shannon of Vale; daughter, Kim Russell and husband, Brian of Charlotte; brother, Gene Ferguson of Mint Hill; sister, Sherry Flaherty of Mt. Pleasant; five grandchildren, Lindsey Russell, Brian Russell and wife, Alexandra, Madison Ferguson, Garrett Russell and wife, Adair and Meredith Tessner and husband, Zack and one great-grandchild on the way.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 1:30pm to 2:45pm at New Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Hickory NC.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 3:00pm at New Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Hickory NC with Rev. David Hefner and Rev. Randall Cauble officiating.

Burial will follow in the New Jerusalem Lutheran Church Cemetery.
