Giles Baxter Neill

Giles Baxter Neill, 86, of Cascade St., formerly of Cherryville, died Thursday March 13, 2014 at Sherrill’s Ford Hospice House.

Mr. Neill was born in Cleveland Co. on January 5, 1928, a son of the late Marcus Zone and Mattie Earl Moore Neal. He was retired mechanic from the Rhyne Houser, Carlton, and Burlington Mills. I

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Lila Mae Byers Neill, a daughter Gail Huffstetler, and brothers Thomas “Babe” Neal, Buford Neil, and Charles Neal.

Survivors include his son Ben Neill (Peggy) of Terrell, three grandchildren, Wendy Hubbard (Brian) of Terrell, Cindy Tenjhay(Arturo) of Conover, and Timothy Neill of Troutman, seven great grandchildren a sister Ruby Eaker of Cherryville, brothers Johnny Neil (Terri), of Kings Mountain, Gerald “Chick” Neill(Sue) of Cherryville and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 PM at Carpenter’s Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Leonard Bumgardner officiating with burial in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2-2:45 PM .
