Glenda Whitman Grant, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026, at Atrium Health - Shelby. Born on December 8, 1942, in Greenwood, South Carolina, Glenda's life spanned over 83 years marked by love, dedication, and joyful memories. Glenda was married for 64 years to Jimmie "Jim" Dean Grant, with whom she shared a deep and abiding partnership until his passing. Her roots were grounded by her parents, Jack Whitman and Mattie Ellenburg Whitman, who preceded her in death. Though they are no longer with us, their legacy lived on through Glenda's family and the values she carried forward. Throughout her life, Glenda delighted in simple pleasures that brought joy to her everyday living. She was known for her love of visiting the beach, where she found peace and tranquility. Her festive spirit shone brightest in her passion for decorating for the holidays, an expression of her creativity and warm heart. Above all, Glenda treasured spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, whose lives she enriched with love and kindness. Glenda is survived by her devoted son, Donavan Grant, and his wife Lisa of Matthews, North Carolina, and her loving daughter, Ramona Grant of Shelby, North Carolina. Her grandchildren -- Dominoe Allen and his husband William of Shelby, North Carolina, Delilah Williams and her husband Chris of Charlotte, North Carolina, Harlee Polishchuk and her husband Andrew of Shelby, North Carolina, Truman Grant of Matthews, North Carolina, and Claire Grant of Matthews, North Carolina -- remember her with fondness and respect. Her joyful spirit is also carried on by her four great-grandchildren: Patrick Dean Ryan, Eric Lee Pine, Joshua Morgan, and Jackson Morgan. Glenda also shares a special place in the hearts of her brother, Jack Whitman, and his wife Debbie of Ft. Worth, Texas. Glenda will also be missed by her loving canine companion, Tucker. Friends and family will gather to honor and remember Glenda's life at Cleveland Funeral Services & Crematory, located at 2518 W Dixon Blvd, Shelby, NC 28150, United. There will be a visitation held on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, followed immediately by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM conducted by Rev. David Lee of Central Methodist Church of Shelby. These services will provide a space for all who knew Glenda to share remembrances and celebrate the remarkable impact she made on their lives. Glenda Whitman Grant's legacy is one of unwavering love, creative spirit, and the profound joy brought by family and togetherness.
