Gloria "Jean" Randall Miller, 84, went home to Heaven on January 16, 2026 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.
Jean was born to Jesse Rankin Randall and Margie Randall Cottrell in Pungo, VA. She grew up in Pungo, VA and Baton Rouge, LA before marrying and living in several states, ultimately settling in Shelby, North Carolina.
She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Earnest Leon Miller; her father, Jesse Rankin Randall; her mother, Margie Randall Cottrell; her stepmother, Doris Callis Randall; her son, Randall Lane Miller, and her brother, Michael Ray Randall.
She is survived by her son, Terry Ray Miller (Shelley); daughter, Ashlee Miller Johnson; granddaughters, Samantha Storm Johnson and Maci Joan Johnson; grandsons, Trenton Thompson, Noah Breland Miller and Isaac Wade Miller; sisters, Misty Randall Methvin (Glenn) and Kristy Randall Early (Eric); brothers, Storm Grayson Randall (Zelma) and Scott Patrick Wesley Randall (Carolyn); and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who loved her.
Jean was an avid and skilled quilter and looked forward to every meeting with her beloved quilt guild friends at the PiecemakersQuilt Guild. Family and friends who own those exquisite pieces of art cherish them greatly.
Jean was also known for her delicious cooking, and delighted in sharing her creations with neighbors, friends and family. Her etouffee is a cherished family favorite, and her pies were considered award-winning by family and friends.
Most of all, Jean loved her family and will always be remembered as a wonderful Mom to her children, the best MawMaw to her grandsons and the best Mimi to her granddaughters.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held February 4, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Way of the Cross Freewill Baptist Church, in Shelby, NC. The family will receive friends at the church at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of Robin Johnson Hospice Home in Dallas, NC for their loving and excellent care for Jean and our family during her stay there.
