Gomelia Champion, 96, of Gastonia Hwy., formerly of Dodd St., Shelby passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2010. Services were held at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial  followed at Cleveland Memorial Park.

Mrs. Champion was preceded in death by her husband, Raleigh H. Champion her parents, Lester & Roxie Cooke Jackson; one brother, David Jackson and one sister, Lela Johnson.

She is survived by 3 sons: Mickey Champion and wife Madge of Lincolnton; Rev. Buddy Champion and wife Kathryn, Council, NC, and Kenneth Champion and wife Janice of Shelby; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
