Grace Bailes Hyder, 91, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2012  at Hospice of Wendover.  She was the daughter of the late Thomas William and Mary Francis Neely Bailes.  Along with her parents Grace is now resting peacefully with those who have preceded her in death, her husband Rev. John B Hyder, her son Earl Wilson Bailes.  Mrs. Hyder was a member of Shingle Hollow Congregational Holiness Church where she taught a Sunday school class for many years.  Grace was a very giving person who loved to help others.  She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and tending to her grandchildren.

Mrs. Hyder is survived by a daughter, Virginia L. Abernathy and husband Stanley of Shelby; sons, Mack Hyder and wife Darlene, Steve Hyder and wife Debera, Wayne Hyder and wife Lisa; daughter-in-law, Agnes C. Bailes of Shelby; 7 sisters; 2 brothers; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Shingle Hollow Congregational Holiness Church.  The Rev. Jack Crane will be officiating.  The body will lie in state from 12:00 – 1:00pm prior to the service.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30pm on Friday, January 20, 2012 at Cecil M Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.  At other times the family will be at the home of Virginia and Stanley Abernathy.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Hospice Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC, 28150.
