Grady Cannon, age 89, of Forest City, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Fair Haven Home of Bostic.

Grady was born Friday, September 23, 1932 in Rutherford County to the late Russell Cannon and Essie Burgess Cannon. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. Grady worked at J.C. Cowan for many years. He enjoyed NASCAR, working on old cars, fixing small engines, yard work and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Cannon and second wife, Bonnie Beheler Cannon; a sister, Mavis Jones and brother, Don Cannon.

Those left to cherish his memory include a daughter, Debra C. Downey (Wayne) of Rutherfordton; a son, Ronnie Lee Cannon (Donna) of Kings Mountain and a sister, Nadine Scruggs of the Chase Community. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Tyler Cannon, Alyse Cannon Milstead (Wesley) and a great granddaughter, Evelyn "Evie" Berke Milstead.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at the Harrelson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend James Henson officiating. Interment will follow at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with military honors being accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to time of service at the funeral home.
