Gregory "Crip" Hines was born on July 18, 1955, to the late Ruth and Willie Hines. He passed away on October 3, 2025 at Atrium Health in Shelby. From a young age, Gregory was known for his warm spirit, generous heart, and He was preceded in death by his siblings: Willie Hines, Jr., Edmund Hines, Harold Hines, Rudy Mae Hines, Willie Mae Hines; and sisters-in-law Annette Hines and Frances Sellars. Gregory's life is lovingly remembered and cherished by his devoted wife, Shirley Hines; sons, Dorian Hines and Gregory "Budd" Wilson; siblings: Delores Eskridge (Russell), Frankie Hines (Kay), Darrell Hines (Lamarick), Jerome Hines, and Steve Hines; sister-in-law, Zelda Hines; extended family of in-laws: Willie Gene and Mary Wright, Christopher and Cherie Wright, Linda Wright, Barbara Sexton, Dennis Wilson and Jeff Sellers; godsons, Jaedon Hopper and Brandon Wright; blended family includes Pete Wilson, Karl and Aricka Howell-Thurman, Tony and Melissa Hawk, Andre and Michelle Davis, Nadia Hopper, and Ladell Cockerham; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Services were held on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Roberts Tabernacle CME Church with burial in Sunset Cemetery.
