Grover Bynum “G.B.” Beam, Jr., age 84 of 958 Mary’s Grove Road, died April 11, 2013 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.  He was born February 27, 1929 in Cherryville, a son of the Late Grover Bynum Beam, Sr. and Gartha Wise Beam.  G.B. was retired from Beam’s Construction as a brick mason, a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran, a member of First Presbyterian Church avid America Legion Post 100 baseball fan and loved raising chickens.
 
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Franklin Beam, four sisters Dorothy Webb, Wanda Nifong, Geraldine Manous and Coneta Dellinger.
 
Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Austin and husband Jim, a son Samuel B. Beam and wife Kristin all of Cherryville, one granddaughter Erica Beam Oglesby and husband Maclaren of Charlotte, two great grandchildren Riley Grace Oglesby and Reese Oglesby of Charlotte.
 
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Carpenter’s Funeral and Cremation Services at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dr. Bill Lowe officiating.  Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Friday, April 12, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
