Mrs. Hazel Irene Valentine Elston, 88, of Shelby, NC, formerly of Switzerland Co., Indiana, passed away Wednesday, November 3,  2010. A Memorial Service was held at Hoyle Memorial United Methodist Church. 

Mrs. Elston was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Laura Gardner Valentine.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Raymond Elston; 1 son, Veryl Elston and wife Donna of Shelby, NC; 6 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Hospice Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Dr., Shelby, NC 28150; or to: Hoyle Memorial United Methodist Church, 1741 Fallston, Rd., Shelby, NC 28150.
