Hazel Jean Parton, 78, of Simpsonville, SC, passed away on December 3, 2012.  She was born August 12, 1934 in Rutherford County, NC.  Hazel was the daughter of Verno and Mary Jane Parton. She graduated from Rutherfordton-Spindale High School and Emmanuel College. 
 
During her career Hazel worked as a book-keeper at East North St Baptist Church in Taylors, SC and at Par-May Wood Products in Rutherfordton, NC. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church.
Hazel was always a ray of sunshine loving her family, friends, gardening and animals.
 
Hazel is survived by a son, Kent Stephens, daughter-in-law Pam Reynolds Stephens, and a daughter, Janet Stephens; two grandchildren, Brandon Stephens and Michaela Stephens Taylor.  She is also survived by her step-mother, Nelle Parton and siblings, Nell Earley, Carl Parton, Reuben Parton, Juanita Rigdon, and Wanda Mayo.  Hazel was predeceased by her mother and father; a sister, Geraldine Lammonds; and a brother, Rudolph Parton.


A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 6th at 3:00 PM at Shingle Hollow Congregational Holiness Church located at 2466 Cove Road, Rutherfordton, NC.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Feed The Children at P.O. Box 36, Oklahoma City, OK.  73101.
