 Hazel Moore McDonald Crawford, 89, died peacefully Aug. 20, 2012 at her home in Cary, North Carolina.

She was born June 29, 1923 in Rutherford County to Monroe McDonald and Ada Alice Moore. She graduated from Rutherfordton High School and married her childhood sweetheart, Charles Douglas Crawford after which she lived a rich and active life as a military wife. Frequent change in assignments included residencies in Europe and the near East.

She was active in the Officers Wives Association and in her churches, Saint Paul's United Methodist in Woodbridge, Virginia and First United Methodist in Enterprise, Alabama. She will be fondly remembered for her great love for her family, friends, and animals.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles in 2007.

She is survived by her son Charles M. Crawford and wife Martha of Enterprise, AL, her daughter, Janice Bond of Cary, and three grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held 10AM Saturday at Adaville Baptist Church cemetery.
