Homer Lee Chapman, 72, of Casar, passed away on March 30, 2025 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.

Born in Burke County on June 10, 1952, he was a son of the late Everette Bush Chapman and Lottie Bell Chapman. He was a life long farmer and a member of the Baptist faith. Homer enjoyed watching races, fishing and hunting.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant brother and sister, two brothers, Arnold Chapman and Harold Chapman and a grandson Samuel Newton.

Homer is survived by his long time companion Kay Newton; four stepchildren, Mark Newton and wife Cindy of Casar, Michael Newton and wife Dolores of Shelby, Marty Newton and wife Nicole of Casar, and Michelle Newton and fiancé Justin McPherson of Casar; two brothers, Garland Chapman and Everett Chapman, Jr. and wife Carolyn all of Connelly Springs and two sisters, Mary Franklin of Connelly Springs and Myrtle Denton and husband David of Morganton; five grandsons, six granddaughters, and a great-grandson.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home, Fallston.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at 3:00 PM in the Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Cook officiating.

Burial will follow at in the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery.
