Mrs. Irene Bell Tate Brown McDonald, 82, of 2523 North Circle Drive, Shelby, NC, passed away Monday, June 14, 2010. Services were held at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Rose Hill Memorial Park. 

Mrs. McDonald was preceded in death by her husband, William Frank McDonald; her parents, Ernest Delmar Tate and Mabel Ruth Summer Tate; 1 daughter, Patti Smith; a great-grandson, Joshua David Smith; 1 brother; and 2 sisters.

She is survived by 6 sons, Cary Brown and wife Kathy of Ft. Myers, FL, Dennis Brown and wife Donna of New Hampshire, Timmy Brown and wife Ellen of Goffstown, NH, Walter Brown and wife Cindy, and Steven Brown and wife Kay-Ann, all of Shelby, and David Brown of Polkville; 6 daughters, Susan Brown of New Hampshire, LuAnn Mehlman and husband Michael of Polkville, Mary Gallant and husband Chuck of Manchester, NH, Linda Leonard and husband Stanley of Kings Mountain, Nancy Delmus Dodson of Ellenboro, and Shirley Holland of Lawndale; 33 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Billie Ruth Webb of Oklahoma.
