Jack H. Conner, age 77, of Caroleen, passed away Monday, July 20, 2026 at his home. Jack was born Wednesday, September 1, 1948 in Rutherford County to the late Pink Conner and Irene Sisk Conner. He served honorably during the Vietnam War in the U.S Army. Jack earned a bachelor's degree for Appalachian State University. He worked as a manager/supervisor for Galey & Lord for many years and was a member of Caroleen Methodist Church. Jack's life was centered around his family, and he enjoyed taking trips with his family. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Jack was a dedicated husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Wren Conner and brother-in-law, Miles Gunnin. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of fifty-four years, Barbara Conner; son, Steve Conner (Wendy) of Forest City; daughter, Deanna Basden of Bostic; sister, Margo Gunnin of Forest City; ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren; three nieces; five great nieces and one great nephew. A celebration of Jack's life will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 23rd at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Brian Melton officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. A private burial will take place at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. Memorial donations are requested to the Master Sergeant Jerry K.
