James Earl Mellon

James Earl Mellon, 82, of 1226 Bethlehem Road, Kings Mountain, passed away
Sunday, November 16, 2014 at his residence.
Born September 21, 1932 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Eddie
Mellon and Texie Elizabeth Trammell Mellon. Earl worked for the NC DOT and
owned Earl's Used Cars and retired from Earls Hauling. He was a member of
Midview Baptist Church and had served as a deacon for over 42 years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Richard
Randy Mellon; two brothers, Frank Mellon and Flay Mellon; twin sister, Annie
Pearl Brittain and four sisters, Vinetta Beatty, Kathleen Buff, Joann
Stewart and Betty Doris Causby.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Mull Mellon; beloved daughter-in-law,
Wanda Green of Shelby; three grandchildren, Lara, Leslie and Lucas Wellmon;
two sisters, Gail Pearson and husband Troy of Shelby and Louise Wilkie and
husband James of Grover; and a brother, David Mellon and wife, Brenda of
Shelby.
Visitation: 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Tuesday, Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home &
Cremation Center, Inc., Fallston.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Tuesday, at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home &
Cremation Center, Fallston.
Officiating: Revs. Oscar Hullander & Michael Rice.
Interment: Cleveland Memorial Park, Boiling Springs.
