Mr. James Frank Mowery, age 63 of Shelby, NC passed away peacefully on Monday, August 24, 2015 at home surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Andy Oliver. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Hamrick Mowery of the home, four children, Jeremy Mowery and Carrie Bryson of Waynesville, NC, Sean Mowery and wife Cretia of Greenville, SC, Adam Kaul and Marianna Bowen of Asheville, NC, and Josh Mowery of Charlotte, NC, four grandchildren, Madison Mowery, Anthony Payne, Cole Forman, and Hayden Forman, stepdad, Roger Proctor and wife Nancy of Kings Mountain, NC, four brothers, Vincent Mowery and wife Belinda of Shelby, NC, Dale Mowery and wife Pat of Shelby, NC, Tommy Mowery of Shelby, NC, and Jimmy Proctor of Greenville, SC, five sisters, Mary Crocker of Venice, FL, Cathy Poston of Shelby, NC, Claire Nell Way of Gastonia, NC, Debbie Huffman and husband Mark of Shelby, NC, and Cathie Norvell and husband Bill of Westminster, MD, and multiple beloved nieces and nephews.

Born September 9, 1951 in Shelby, NC, Mr. Mowery was the son of the late Paul Mowery and Martha (Roberts) Proctor. Mr. Mowery graduated from Crest High School in 1969. After graduation, he served as a member of the North Carolina Army National Guard and was honorably discharged with the rank of SGT. Jim provided volunteer work at the Cleveland Correctional Center weekly for 16 years. Jim was a dedicated provider for his beloved family. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
