James Harold Mullins, Sr.

James Harold Mullins, Sr., 66, 138 Wilderness Trail, Blacksburg, SC, passed away November 2, 2012, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center, Gaffney, SC. A native of Clintwood, VA, he is the husband of Jane Bollinger of the home and a son of the late Troy and Alleen Price Mullins. He was a Veteran of the US Army having served two tours in Vietnam and also served in Korea. He was awarded a Purple Heart among other honors. He was retired from the textile industry. He was an avid mechanic and carpenter. His first job was that of a coal miner at the early age of 16.
In addition to his wife, Jane, he is survived by one son - James Mullins, Jr. of Morganton, NC; and one daughter - Kimberly Lloyd of Swannanoa, NC; one step-daughter - Tracy Johnson of Morganton, NC; one step-son - Johnny Bollinger of the home; two grandchildren- Derrick and Rodney Toney; two great-grandchildren.; one brother - Danny Kendrick of Clintwood, VA; and five sisters - Catherine Pennington of Blacksburg, SC, Alice Michaels of Culpepper, VA; Shirley Christian of Tazewell, VA; Rebecca Blair of Clintwood, VA; and Catherine Payne of Greensboro, NC.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2012, 1:00 PM, Graveside, at Clingman Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Gregg Martin officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service. At other times, they will be at the home.
