James "Jimmy" Lee Carter, Jr., 58, of Shelby, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Atrium Health - Cleveland, Shelby.

Born in Cleveland County on September 7, 1965 , he was a son of Dorothy Martin Carter of Shelby and the late James Lee Carter, Sr.

Jimmy had worked in construction most of his life and he was also an avid carpenter, fisherman and gardener.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife Tonya Maria Cogdell Carter; a son, James Lee Brandon Carter and partner Camille Lawrence; two daughters, Jamie Trotman and husband Kuylah and Tabitha Adams and husband Nijah all of Shelby; a brother Michael Carter and wife Loretta of Kings Mountain; and several loving nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 , at 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm , at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of Carmen Bradley, 3308 W. Stagecoach Trail, Lawndale, NC 28090.

The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Bridges officiating.

The burial will follow the service in the Rose Hill Memorial Park.
