James "Jimmy" Richard Grigg, Jr., 77, of Shelby passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026 at Atrium Health - Cleveland.

Jimmy was born on December 13, 1948 in Cleveland County, to the late James Richard Grigg and Blanche Russ Grigg. He was retired from Reliance Electric and was a member of Double Shoals United Methodist Church. Jimmy volunteered at the Cleveland-Rutherford Kidney Association, loved playing pool at CCIB and his favorite social spot was the Deer Brook Golf Course. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lisa Adair.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathy Austell Grigg; daughter, Jennifer Sigmon of Vale; grandson, Wyatt Sigmon; sister, Joyce Mull and husband, Randy of Cliffside and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at Double Shoals United Methodist Church, 107 Old Mill Road, Shelby with Rev. Melissa Peeler officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will greet friends following the service in the Double Shoals United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
