James "Ronald" Price

Mr. James "Ronald" Price, 66, of Cliffside went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday April 6, 2016. He leaves behind his wife, Jane Lovelace Price, of 45 years. He was the son of the late Hester "Tommie" Greene Price and James Howard Price.

Ronald was a 1967 graduate of Chase High School and a 1971 graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Textile Technology. He loved farming, spending time with his family, and his NC State Wolfpack. He also enjoyed spending time on the lake and traveling. He farmed 250 acres of cotton, 500 acres of soybeans, and 450 acres of wheat. In addition to farming, he worked as a plant manager in textiles until his retirement. He served as President of the Cleveland County Farm Bureau from 2001 to 2003 and 2011 to 2013. He recently became a member of the State of North Carolina Farm Bureau Board representing Cleveland County. During this service, he traveled numerous trips to Raleigh and had the opportunity to study farming techniques in Arizona, Brazil and Mexico.

He was honored with numerous farming awards during his career. In 1982 and 1983, he was awarded first place for the No-Till Contest. He received the award for the "Farm Family of the Year" in 1988 and the "Excellence in Agriculture Award" in 2014. Ronald was a member of Cliffside Baptist Church since 1971 and attended the Men's Fellowship Sunday School Class. He served on numerous committees, served two terms as a deacon and was a regular usher.

In addition to his wife, Jane of the home, he is also survived by four daughters: Rhonda Wright and husband Jody of Ellenboro, Elizabeth Mace and husband Kenny of Ellenboro, Myra Price Medford of Cliffside, and Rebecca Pintuff and husband Justin of Sunshine. His eight surviving grandchildren are Ashley and Jay Wright, Storm and Marina Mace, Caitlyn and Caleb Medford, and Jenna and Maci Pintuff. He was predeceased by his two grandchildren, Brandon and Blake Wright.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8pm on Monday April 11, 2016 at Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside, NC. Funeral services will be conducted at 3pm on Tuesday April 12, 2016 at Cliffside Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Cantrell, Rev. Larry Flemming and Rev. Allen Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Cliffside Cemetery.
