James Wilson Ledbetter
James Wilson Ledbetter, known affectionately as Jim to his friends and family, left this world on April 14, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on August 10, 1937, in Cleveland County, North Carolina, Jim was a lifelong resident of the county, and his gentle, kind spirit touched all who knew him. A man of deep faith, Jim was an active and devoted member of Plainsview Baptist Church, where he found strength and community. His commitment to his faith was evident in the way he lived his life, always embodying the values of generosity and kindness that are so often spoken of but rarely practiced with such consistency. Jim grew up in a bustling household with his loving parents, Grover and Alda Ledbetter, who preceded him in death, as did his son Donald Ledbetter, his daughter Elizabeth Ledbetter, his brother Dan Ledbetter, and his sisters Beatrice Hastings, Ruth Costner, and Ann Pennington. Through all of life's challenges, James remained a pillar of strength and comfort to his family. He is survived by his cherished daughters, Mary Ledbetter and Paula Reynolds, who will remember him as a guiding light and a source of unconditional love. His legacy continues to shine brightly through his six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the lessons of compassion and gentleness he instilled in them. Jim's life was one of service, not only to his family but also to his community. His professional journey was marked by dedication and a strong work ethic, and his involvement in various associations reflected his commitment to making a positive impact on those around him. As we bid farewell to Jim, we invite friends and family to join us in celebrating his life. The funeral will be held in the Chapel of Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 2 pm. The service will be officiated by a Reverend Wayne Key whose guidance Jim valued, and will include special words from his nephew Andy Costner. Following the service, James will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Memorial Park, where he will be surrounded by the beauty of the place he called home for so many years. Those wishing to pay their respects can visit with the family on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
