Janie Louise Runyan Gay, 82, formerly of Monroe, NC, passed away on March 24, 2023 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain, NC.

She was preceded in death by her parents, A.V. Runyan and Patsy Ervin Runyan, and her brothers, A.V. Runyan, Jr. and Damon Runyan. Left to cherish her memories are son, David Gay and wife Jenny of Waxhaw, daughter Lisa Van Dyke and husband Kenny of Kings Mountain, and sisters Carolyn Manus of Indian Trail, Ava Gail Willis of Monroe and Teresa Sampson of Charlotte. Janie was a long-time educator and beloved elementary school teacher. Although her passion was teaching, her pride and joy was being called "Grammy" by her grandchildren, Hannah Torres, Bailey Torres, Gabe Florzcyk, Arianna D'Oleo and Evan Van Dyke.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel

VISITATION: Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM prior to the service in the parlor of Harris Funeral Home

INTERMENT: New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery at 2621 Blacksburg Road, Earl, NC 28038
