Jerry Hoyle Smith, 71, of A.A. Barrett Road, Shelby, passed away Sunday,
April 10, 2016 at Peak Resources, Shelby.

He was born in Cleveland County, on May 18, 1944, to the late Truman Grady
Smith and Inna Larue Hoyle Smith. He was retired from Timken Company in the
maintenance department and was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church
and the Methodist Men.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Wanda
Gibson.

He is survived by is wife of 51 years, Dorothy Marie Gibson Smith; two sons,
Wayne Smith and wife, Anita of Claremont and Douglas Smith and wife, Angela
of Shelby; brother-in-law, Ralph Gibson of Cherryville; and four
grandchildren, Baylen Smith, Isaac Smith and wife, Cierra, Valerie Smith and
Adam Smith.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at
Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home, Fallston. Condolences may be made online at

The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 3:30 PM at Bethlehem United
Methodist Church with the Revs. Bill Taylor and Randy Godfrey officiating.

The burial will follow the service in the St. Paul United Methodist Church
Cemetery.
