Jerry Lee "Burr" Shull, a cherished soul known for his adventurous spirit and loving nature, passed away at the age of 78 on July 9, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Born on July 16, 1946, in Cleveland County, North Carolina, Jerry led a life full of joy, friendship, and passion for the great outdoors. Jerry is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Patricia Shull, who stood by his side in a marriage that was a testament to enduring love. He was a beloved brother to Wayne Shull; and his sisters, Margaret Clarke, Patricia Taylor, Brenda Efird and her husband Harold, Dianne Lewis and her husband Ronnie, and Becky Young and her husband Dale. His legacy continues through his two special nephews, Bartley Bess and his wife Krystle, and Radley Bess and his wife Jaclynn, who held a place in his heart akin to sons. Jerry also leaves behind his fur baby, Maggie, who was a constant source of joy and companionship. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Vester and Hester Shull, who instilled in him the values of kindness and community that he carried throughout his life. His memory will also be cherished by his close friends from Vale, Billy Workman and Eric Wright, along with his extended family of 32 nieces and nephews, each of whom held a unique place in his heart. His interests were a reflection of a man who loved life and the natural world. He found peace and solace while fishing in the river, took pride in growing vegetables in his garden, and enjoyed the camaraderie of coon and rabbit hunting with friends in his neighborhood. Jerry's friendly disposition made him a beloved figure in his community. His presence was a source of comfort and laughter to all who knew him. His adventurous nature inspired many, and his stories of outdoor escapades will continue to be told with fondness and a smile. A celebration of life service to honor Jerry's memory will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home in Fallston, with the Rev. Bartley Bess officiating. Following the service, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, the family will receive friends at the funeral home. Additionally, the family will welcome friends and family at the home of Dale and Becky Young at 2762 Moose Gant Rd., Crouse, NC 28033. Jerry's life was a journey marked by love, friendship, and a zest for life that touched everyone he met. His spirit, characterized by an open heart and a warm smile, will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
