Jessie Ruth Noles Hord

Jessie Ruth Noles Hord, age 84, of Crouse Road, died Saturday, January 18, 2014 at her residence. She was born on March 18, 1929 in Gaston County, a daughter of the late Arthur and Beulah McAllister Noles. Mrs. Hord was a member of Crouse United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking and traveling. Ruth formerly worked part-time at Harris-Teeter and with the Phone Company.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Johnnie, Forest, Everett, Fred, and Edward Noles; and sister, Laura Drake.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, James Ben Hord; sons, Larry James Hord (Kathie) of Asheboro, and Alan Lewis Hord (Jane) of Mt. Airy; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at Crouse United Methodist Church on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Cliff Wall officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Carpenter’s Funeral & Cremation Services.
