Jewel McFarland Greene

SHELBY- Jewel McFarland Greene, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of the Lord, passed away peacefully on October 15th, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 5th, 1940, in Cleveland County, North Carolina, Jewel lived a full and inspiring life of 86 years.

A woman of unwavering faith and deep devotion, Jewel was a faithful member of Blacksburg ARP Church, where her love for the Lord shone brightly. Known for her wit, warmth, and dependability, she was a pillar of strength and comfort to all who knew her.

Jewel retired after many dedicated years working at the Fiber, but her true passions extended far beyond her career. A great cook who delighted in preparing meals for her loved ones, she also found joy and peace in her garden. Her knowledge of plants was remarkable--she could tell you anything you needed to know about them. Above all, Jewel had a tender heart for her animals, whom she loved dearly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Irene McFarland, as well as multiple brothers and sisters. She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory: her son Jack Lee Greene; daughters Beth Greene, Courtney Morehead and husband Ronnie Morehead, Nicole Brooks and husband Wilson Brooks; her sisters Mildred Blanton, Frances Costner and husband Michael Costner; grandchildren Danielle Bradley, Jesse Greene, Lauren Brooks, Matthew Morehead, Joshua Morehead; and great-grandchildren Macie Bradley and Gavin Bradley.

The family will receive visitors on Monday, October 19th, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home. A graveside service celebrating Jewel's life will be held on Tuesday, October 20th, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Duncan's Creek Presbyterian Church.
