Jimmy Donald Pruitt, 85, passed away on May 22, 2026.

He was a native of Cleveland County. He was kind and compassionate with a deep love for his family and his Bonitz work family. Jimmy also liked to watch old westerns, playing golf and talking sports with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James William Pruitt and Mary Sue Lane; a daughter, Sheryl Pruitt Cooper, grandsons, Chad Brown and Corey Fortson.

He is survived by his wife of eight years, Joyce Sparks Pruitt; his brother Allen Lane, his loving daughter, Rhonda Pruitt Fortson; his grandchildren, Chase Patterson, and Austin Cooper; his brothers, Scott Pruitt, Gary Pruitt, Ricky Pruitt and his sister, Vicky Pruitt Scism.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, May 29, 2026 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at 3:30 pm following the service in the cemetery of Lee's Chapel United Methodist Church, 5516 Polkville Road Casar, NC 28020.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home, Attn: Jimmy Pruitt, to assist with the cost of his headstone & arrangements.
