Jimmy Lee Ross, 84, of Lawndale passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at his residence.

Jimmy was born on May 30, 1942 in Cleveland County to the late L.J. Ross and Frances Irene Walker Ross. He was retired from the NC Department of Transportation and was a member of Plains View Baptist Church.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 63 years, Annette Gantt Ross; sons, James Ross and Wayne Ross and wife, Jerri all of Lawndale; daughter, Diane Verbos and husband, David of Lawndale; sister, Evelyn Horldt of Lawndale; six grandchildren, Jimmy Cooke, John Ross Cooke, Benjamin Ross, Dylan Ross, Matthew Ross and Bryan Ross; eleven great-grandchildren, Aliyah Bodwell, Loghan Trammell, Jaxson Ross, Rylan Ross, Conner Ross, Emma Grace Ross, Grayson Ross, Adeline Ross, Avery Ross, Carter Ross and Ellianna Thornburg and step-grandson, Smoke Thornburg and his wife, Danielle.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 4, 2026 from 11:00am to 12:00pm at Plains View Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026 at 12:00pm at Plains View Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Key officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Fallston.
