Joanne Carroll Lewis, 87, of Shelby, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026.

Joanne was born on December 29, 1938, and was a daughter of the late Fred E. Carroll and Cleo Johnson Carroll. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and reading and was a member of Ross Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years, James Junior Lewis; grandson, Jamie Lewis; an a brother Jerry Carroll.

Joanne is survived by two sons, James Michael Lewis of Lawndale and David Wayne Lewis of Cherryville; sister, Linda Leibow and husband Saul of Buckeye, AZ; brother, Johnny Carroll and wife Jerel Dean of Morganton; sister-in-law, Sybil Carroll; granddaughter, Emily Lewis of Fallston; seven great-grandchildren, Jacob, Ethan, Eli and Noah Lewis and Ayden, Bryson, and Addilyn Bess and two great-great grandchildren, Catalina and Giovanni Lewis.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 1:00 PM in the Rose Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Marcus McGill officiating.
