John Joseph Brendle
John Joseph Brendle, 89, of Cherryville, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Carolina Care Health & Rehabilitation in Cherryville.
Born in Burke County on December 15, 1928, he was a son of the late Iverson McCoy Brendle and Mozelle Eaker Brendle. He was a 1947 graduate of North Brook School. He retired after forty-one years of service as a manager for JC Penney. John was a member of St. Peter's United Methodist Church and served in the US Army Artillery during the Korean War.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Norma Jane Brendle and two sisters Flora Ann Craig and Mildred Jeanette Davis.
He is survived by his second wife, Edna Parker Brendle; three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Brendle and Keith and Denise Brendle all of Denver, Colorado and Jim and Heather Brendle of Freehold, New Jersey; brother, Iverson Brendle, Jr of Rockwell; and four grandchildren and spouse, Ryan and Connie Brendle, Andrew Brendle, Cody Brendle and Kaleigh Brendle.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 14, 2018, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home, Fallston.
The funeral service will be at 2:30 pm, Frriday at St. Peters United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brian Elwell officiating.
The burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
