John Lynn "Lynn" Sarratt

John Lynn "Lynn" Sarratt, 82, of Shelby, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Wendover Hospice.

A native of Boiling Springs and Cleveland County, Lynn was the son of the late John Lucious Sarratt and Annie Mae McSwain Sarratt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Jane Webb Sarratt, and his sister, Wanda Sarratt.

Lynn was a faithful lifelong member and deacon of Boiling Springs Baptist Church. He dearly loved his church family and remained actively involved in the life of the church, where he served on various committees over the years. A graduate of Gardner-Webb University, Lynn earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and enjoyed a successful career with PPG, where he worked for more than 40 years, most recently serving in customer service before retiring.

Lynn was also a Past Master of Lodge #388 A.F. & A.M. He was known by all who loved him as an avid UNC Tar Heel fan and someone who truly enjoyed life. Whether traveling with his church family, his wife, children, or friends, Lynn cherished every opportunity to make lasting memories with those he loved most. His kindness, faith, and devotion to family will be remembered by all who knew him.

Lynn is survived by his three daughters, Donna Sarratt Davenport and husband, Joe, of Atlantic Beach, NC; Kim Sarratt Reel and husband, Lee, of Shelby; and Kelli Sarratt Hogston and husband, Mike, of Gastonia. He is also survived by his six grandchildren: Zach Davenport and wife, Kerri; Brad Davenport and wife, Anna; Mathew Reel and fiancée, Brittni Sharpe; Morgan Reel; Dylan Hogston; and Alayna Hogston; along with his great-grandchildren, Brooks, Chloe, Clara, and Maeve Davenport. In addition, he is survived by his two brothers, Randy Sarratt and Dan Sarratt (Diane), as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with Masonic rites will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Cleveland Memorial Park. A Celebration of Life service honoring Lynn's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Boiling Springs Baptist Church, with Pastor Keith Dixon officiating. The family will receive friend following the service in the Life Enrichment Center.
