John Michael Vannoy John Michael Vannoy, age 73, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia, North Carolina. Born August 30, 1951, in Middlesboro, Kentucky, Mike was the son of the late John and Helen Irene Baker Vannoy. Mike was a resident of Bessemer City, North Carolina where he last lived with his wife of fifty-five years, Carolyn Elizabeth Stewart Vannoy and son, Christopher Ryan Vannoy. Mike was a country boy who was raised on a dairy farm near Lake City, Tennessee, now known as Rocky Top, Tennessee. Give Mike a cup of hot coffee with home-made biscuits and gravy each morning and he'd be happy all day! His big, friendly personality and contagious laugh enlarged his circle of friends. Mike never had a cross word to say about anyone and worked hard as a dairyman and heavy equipment operator to support his family. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; son, Chris; and siblings Sandy Lowry (Charles); Nancy Hillman (Bill); and Brenda Todd (Barry); and sisters and brother-in-law, Ronald Stewart (Pam), Elaine Stewart, Donna Adams (Jeff), and Tina Stewart. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Brad Vannoy. Mike had a smile and a laugh that would light up the room. He was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.
