John Robert "Bob" Moore

John Robert "Bob" Moore

John Robert "Bob" Moore, 77, of Brevard, NC passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026 with his daughter by his bedside.

Born and raised in Katonah, New York, Bob graduated from John Jay High School before eventually making his way to Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona, where he lived for nearly 25 years. He moved to North Carolina in early 2000 to be closer to his daughter, Shannon.

Bob spent most of his life working with his hands, building a career refinishing and repairing furniture. He also owned a small supermarket and motel for several years and became the unofficial 'mayor' of Strawberry, Az. He was a true craftsman who took pride in his work and had a remarkable ability to engineer creative solutions to almost any problem. Those who knew him often admired his ingenuity, skill, and determination.

While woodworking was his profession, music was his passion. Bob was happiest with a guitar in his hands, playing whatever came to him in the moment. Though he never considered himself an artist, he deeply appreciated the musicians around him and felt honored whenever he had the opportunity to play alongside them. More than anything, music was the gift he hoped to pass on and the legacy he wished to be remembered for.

Bob also had a lifelong love of animals and always shared his home with a cat, a dog, or both. He leaves behind his sweet kitty, Aries.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edythe and William G. Moore; his brother, William "Bill" Moore; and his sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Fesko.

He is survived by his daughter

Shannon Floyd, and her husband, Phillip; his grandchildren, Abby Floyd, Andrew Ayers, Kylee Ayers, Keely Ayers, and Gavin Floyd; and a great-granddaughter, Paisley Rector. He is also survived by his niece, Amy Moore, and his nephews, Timothy Fesko and Douglas Fesko.

Bob shared a special bond with his niece Tammy Villani, great niece and nephew Sascha Clark (husband, Daniel) and Dominic Moore, and great great nieces and nephew Willow, Alaska and Kasper Clark, who were an important part of his life and will miss him dearly.

In recent years, Bob found friendship and community on Sassafras Mountain near Brevard, North Carolina. The neighbors and friends he met there became like family, especially Dwight and Terena Flight, whose friendship meant so much to him.

No services are planned at this time. A private gathering to celebrate Bob's life will be held at a later date.
