Jonas William Hayes, 92, of Salisbury, NC, passed away on January 14, 2023 at the NC Veterans Men's Home in Salisbury, NC.

He was born in Spartanburg County, SC, son of the late Hollis and Eula Thomas Hayes and was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Geraldine Summer Hayes. Mr. Hayes was also preceded in death by his sisters, Maggie Shook and Mary Webb Varnadoe. He served the United States faithfully in the US Army in the Korean War. Mr. Hayes was a member of the Holiness Christian Mission in Kings Mountain and retired after many years of service to Clevemont Mills and Harris Welco. He was an avid music lover from an early age and was an accomplished guitar player. Mr. Hayes cherished his family dearly and enjoyed spending every moment he could with them. His kind and precious spirit will live on in the memories and hearts of everyone who knew him.

Daughters: Gail Southard, Union, SC, Donna Moore, Woodruff, SC, Angela Fincher (Kieth), Spartanburg, SC, and Patty Walker (Jeff), Kings Mountain, NC

Grandchildren: Amanda Lyman (David), Trish Byers (Brian), Wayne Southard, Keith Moore (Misty), Brett Moore (Kelsey), Amy Turner, Christy Green (Dale), Jeffrey Walker (Hannah), Brooke Deason (Trey), Chasity Hamrick (Kevin), Chad Hayes (Crystal), and Brittany Payne (Ricky)

Great Grandchildren: 20

MEMORIAL SERVICE: Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Branch Street Chapel with Reverend Mike Chambers officiating

INTERMENT: A private family interment will take place at Christian Freedom Church Cemetery
