Joyce McGinnis Bowman, 73, went to be with her heavenly father on Monday, June 25, 2012 at Hospice Cleveland County Wendover.  A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Edwin and Thelma Grace Horton McGinnis.  She was also preceded in death by her sister, Doris McGinnis Sanders and her husband Larry Sanders.  Mrs. Bowman retired from teaching at Grover Elementary school after 35 years of service.  She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, was the Sunday school secretary, and was a member of the Agape Prayer group.  Joyce loved cooking, sewing, camping and traveling.  She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Joyce is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Miller Bowman; two daughters, Myra Bowman Lail and her husband Ty of Clover, SC and Maria Bowman Webb of Lattimore; four grandchildren, Kamryn and Harley Lail and Levi and Dillon Webb; two great grandchildren, Bentley and Kylie Webb; and her loving aunts and uncle, nieces and nephew.

A special thank you is extended to Dr. Grinton, Dr. Dearment, Dr. Patel, ICU and Pallative Care staff of Cleveland Regional, Dr. Love and the Wendover Hospice staff.

A celebration of life service will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Eastside Baptist Church.  The Rev. Leland Kerr will be officiating.  Burial will follow at Ross Grove Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends from 4:30 – 6:00pm prior to the service at the church.  At other times the family will be at the home.
