Judith Diane Carter Williams, 82, of Bessemer City, NC, went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2024 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC. She was born in Gaston County, NC, daughter of the late James Edward Carter and Lois Audrey McCarver Addis and was preceded in death by her stepfather, Herbert Addis, brother, Richard Addis, a granddaughter, Sandra Douglas, and a daughter-in-law, Linda Stockton. Judith, affectionately known as Mawmaw by most people, was of the Christian faith and a former Sunday school teacher. She worked as a substitute teacher in her youth and in textiles as a knitter most of her life. Mawmaw was an avid animal lover and rescued countless dogs and cats. She enjoyed reading, was a talented fisher, and a ruthless poker player during her family poker nights. She also enjoyed taking trips to the mountains and loved collecting angel figurines.. Mawmaw was an excellent cook and loved nothing more than feeding people. Sunday morning gravy biscuits was a time for all the family to gather at her home and fellowship. Judy was a grandmother to not only her brood of grandchildren, but to every child that entered her life. She helped raise countless young people during her lifetime. Mawmaw always placed everyone above her own needs and desires. She was a wonderful wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother whose kindness, love, and generosity will live on in the lives of the people she touched forever.
