LaVerne Blanton Crosby, 92, passed away Thursday February 6, 2014 at Shelby Manor. A native of Cleveland county, she was born September 5, 1921, daughter of the late William Buren and Bertha Padgett Blanton. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Shelby where she was a member and past Treasurer of Faith Sunday School Class. She worked many years at Orr Mills and retired from Fiber Industries.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Evans Crosby; three brothers, Sherman, Johnny and Arbuth Blanton.

SURVIVED: She is survived by her nieces, Shelia Moses and husband Donald of Marion, SC, Brenda Bouser and husband Stephen of Southern Pines, Kathy McFarland and husband Larry of Ellenboro, and Vicky Blanton of Polkville; sister-in-law, Pat C. Hamrick of Boiling Springs; and many other family members.

SERVICES: A funeral service will be held 10:30 am Saturday in the Chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
