Lillian Doris Spangler Dedmon

Lillian Doris Spangler Dedmon, 96, of Shelby, NC passed away on March 26, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Abb Sylvester Spangler and Mittie Warlick Spangler, sister of the late Ruth Spangler Dedmon and Sadie Spangler Wright, and the wife of the late Talmadge Carl Dedmon.
Doris is survived by her daughter, June Dedmon Yarboro and husband Ed Yarboro, son, Richard Carlson Dedmon and wife, Jan Fesperman Dedmon, and her brother, James C. Spangler and wife Carolyn. She was known as "Mamaw" to her grandchildren, Bonnie and Stephanie Yarboro, Will Dedmon and wife Leigh Ervin, Molly Goodson and husband Adam. She is also survived by four great grandchildren, Pless and Stewart Dedmon and Thomas and Elliott Goodson. Doris loved her family and always looked forward to seeing them.
Doris was a graduate of Piedmont High School and attended Gardner-Webb College. She worked for many years with her husband in the Dedmon family businesses. She and Carl enjoyed traveling and were able to visit many states and countries during their 64 years of marriage.
As a former basketball player, Doris was an avid fan of college basketball and loved to watch "her teams" - UNC, NC State and Duke. She loved to sing and had been a member of church choirs since childhood. Through the years she sang at weddings, reunions and special events. She was also a member of the "Carolina Maids Trio" sponsored by the Eagle Roller MIll Company for many years.
Her family is grateful for the excellent care of her caregivers, Kelly, Pam and Abigale over the years.
Doris was a member of First Baptist Church of Shelby and the Tony Burnette Sunday School class. Her funeral will be held at First Baptist Church on Monday, March 30, 2026 at 3:00. Visitation with the family is at 2:00 with the burial following the service at Rose Hill in Lawndale.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, March 30, 2026, in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church in Shelby. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Rosehill Memorial Park.
