Lillian Poole Toney, age 95, of Ellenboro, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at the Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

Lillian was born on Friday, February 14, 1930, in Cleveland County, to the late Jimmie Poole and Lima Beaver Poole. She was the oldest member of Drury Dobbins Baptist Church where she formerly sang in the choir, served at vacation Bible school, and was a part of the bereavement committee. Lillian graduated from Ellenboro High School and retired from Fiber Industries. Following her retirement, she volunteered at the Hospice Resale Shop for over ten years. She loved to work in her garden, mow grass, and tend to flowers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Toney; and her siblings, J.F. Poole, H.S. Poole, Harold Poole, Wilma Jones, and Donald Poole.

Survivors include her children, Dale Toney (Deborah), Anita Sny (Daniel), and Angela Goodrich (Dennis), all of Ellenboro; grandchildren, Matthew Toney (Lindsey), Anna Haynes (Grant), Liese Balkcom (Tanner), Daniel Sny (Melissa), David Smy (Maggie), and Austin Goodrich (Brooke); eleven great-grandchildren; brother, Sonny Poole (Lois), of Ellenboro; sister, Janet Honeycutt (Keith), of Mooresboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at Drury Dobbins Baptist Church with the Reverend Ronald Roberts and Reverend George Whitmire officiating. Visitation will be held for an hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
